JCI Sunway Damansara Leads Second Effort in Successful Aboriginal Beach Cleaning 2.0
On the sunny morning of Sunday, September 24, 2023, the shores of Pantai Cunang witnessed a powerful second installment of the "Aboriginal Beach Cleaning 2.0" event, led by the dedicated members of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Sunway Damansara. Building on the success of their previous endeavor, this event brought together an impressive team of 49 volunteers from Kuala Lumpur, complemented by the invaluable participation of 15 Aborigines from Pantai Cunang, totaling 64 dedicated individuals.
For four hours straight (from 8am to 12pm), these enthusiastic participants meticulously cleared the coastline of an astounding 472.20 kilograms of various debris. The items collected were diverse, including 44.2 kilograms of plastic waste, 114 kilograms of ropes, 23 kilograms of glass fragments, 225.5 kilograms of miscellaneous rubbish, 48.5 kilograms of fiber materials, 13 kilograms of building materials, and 4 kilograms of rubber.
This event serves as a shining example of proactive environmental stewardship, community collaboration, and the dedication of JCI Sunway Damansara to the well-being of Pantai Cunang. It underscores the power of collective action in preserving our natural treasures and reinforces the commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable future for our coastal environments.
